One recent reviewer said: "A sprawling gem of a beach. One of the best in Sussex.

"Littlehampton beach has so much going for it, better weather than most places in the UK, long and wide beaches with sand and pebbles, lots of facilities and plenty of space.

The Argus: The beach has received plenty of mixed reviews"There are quieter stretches as well if you'd prefer to be away from the crowds."

Another visitor said: "I was shocked at how beautiful this beach is.

"There is a large expanse of sand when the tide is out so plenty of room to swallow people up and perfect for a relaxing walk to soak up some fresh air."

Someone visiting from outside the county said: "Never been to Littlehampton before, but this place is beyond my expectations.

"Sandy beach and lots of beautiful restaurants and very good to bring family with young children and cheap trip too."

The Argus: Despite these positive reviews, some people said their visit to the beach was disappointing.

One visitor said: "Went to Littlehampton near the very end of August.

"It was more pebbles than sand as I remember years ago it was mainly sand... not a pleasant experience, not the Littlehampton I remember, will definitely not be visiting there anymore."

Another person said: "Went there last summer. The seafront looks beautiful in the pictures and the water quite clean.

"However, be warned like Brighton, during the summer holidays you will find yourself surrounded by screaming kids everywhere you turn."

Someone from Basingstoke said: "One of the worst beaches I've been to, period."
