A billionaire businessman and an army of kitesurfers are celebrating after smashing a world record off of the Sussex coast at the weekend.
Virgin supremo Sir Richard Branson and 318 kitesurfers – dubbed the Virgin Kitesurf Armada – broke the world record for the largest number of kitesurfers to complete a one-mile course on Saturday.
It was plain sailing for the ambitious team, who set the record in Hayling Island, Hampshire, before surfing nearly 50 miles down to the coast to Littlehampton and then Lancing.
The Virgin boss was accompanied by his daughter Holly, son Sam and son-in-law Freddie Andrews.
Other surfers included four-time kite racing world champion Steph Bridge and four-time British kite champion Lewis Crathern.
The stunt raised money for various charities including the RNLI, Snow-Camp and Virgin Unite.
