Mike Weatherley MP has written to the chief executive of Greggs in a bid to get the bakery to keep its Hove branch open.

The Conservative Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade has written to Roger Whiteside to call on the company to "strongly reconsider its decision to shut down its branch in George Street in Hove".

A spokeswoman for Mr Weatherley said: "Local residents and businesses have contacted Mike to give their support to Greggs remaining in place."

Mr Weatherley said: “Greggs is a major asset to the community and should not be closed down so readily. George Street is getting better all of the time and it seems just the wrong time to be leaving. I have offered to meet the chief executive of Greggs to see if the firm will reconsider.”
