David Cameron has said he will visit an energy scheme in Brighton.
The Prime Minister was responding to a question from Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas during his weekly question time.
Ms Lucas asked if he would come to Brighton to see “the excellent work of Brighton Energy Co-op, who are showing that community renewables, especially solar power, has huge potential”.
She added: “The Government's new Community Energy Strategy says one million homes could be community powered by 2020 - does he fully support this vision and will he promote this, instead of his evidence-free fracking fantasies?”
Mr Cameron responded he “will be in Brighton before too long” and looked forward to seeing the energy scheme.
But he reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing fracking as a source of energy, something opposed by the Green Party.
Mr Cameron said: “We should take advantage of shale gas. It is an opportunity to have clean gas and help to keep our bills down.
“We want to have affordable energy as well as green energy and that should be our goal.”
Last week, the PM visited ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia in Crawley, which has recently relocated production from China back to the UK.
