Volunteers are being called for to help run the Meals on Wheels service and make a difference for older and housebound residents in Worthing.

The Royal Voluntary Service is asking for people to dedicate up to three hours a week to help run Meals on Wheels and ensure that those who use the service stay safe, healthy and independent in their own homes.

David McCullough, Royal Voluntary Service Chief Executive, said: “This is a really vital service for older people and makes a massive difference to their lives. “Our volunteers are fantastic and really enjoy what they do; they get as much out of volunteering as they put in, but we always need more helpers to meet the growing demand for the service, especially at this time of year.”

The charity helps over 100,000 people each month with individual tailored help for their needs and is supported by the work of 40,000 volunteers.

The service is also introducing a new menu, aiming to provide users a better quality and more balanced diet.

Information about volunteering will be available at the charity’s showcase events taking place over the next few weeks.

Their team will be at Worthing Library on Friday, February 7, 10am-12am, and Friday, February 14, 10.30am-2.30pm.
