A teenager has been arrested over the rape of a woman in a doorway.

The 19-year-old man was arrested by police after an 18-year-old woman was raped in a doorway after a night out in Brighton.

The victim has told detectives she was with friends when she was attacked between 3.30am and 4.30am on Tuesday January 28 near the seafront.

On Sunday officers arrested the suspect, from London, on suspicion of rape.

He was questioned before being released on bail until March 24 while officers carry out further inquiries.

Detective Inspector Julie Wakeford said: "We are still looking at CCTV footage to try to trace the victim's movements before she called us.

"We would still like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the seafront in the early hours of 28 January and saw anything suspicious."
