Call for MP to break silence over Green party ‘mutiny’

The Argus: Call for MP to break silence over Green party ‘mutiny’ Call for MP to break silence over Green party ‘mutiny’

Green MP Caroline Lucas has backed Brighton and Hove’s Green council’s decision to push for a public referendum on a 4.75% increase in council tax.

But the country’s only Green Member of Parliament failed to explicitly back the embattled leader of her party’s council, Jason Kitcat, who is facing a mutiny from those within his party.

Responding to a call from Brighton and Hove Labour group leader Warren Morgan – who challenged her to stop the infighting within the council’s Green party – the Brighton PavilionMP said: “I’ve made my position crystal clear throughout.

“We’re in this terrible situation because of the coalition’s callous and counterproductive programme of austerity – a programme Labour say they would stick to when it comes to spending on welfare.

“People in Brighton and Hove didn’t choose to have the services they rely on threatened as a result of the Government’s savage cuts.

“It’s disappointing that Labour aren’t focusing more on that, instead of joining forces with the Tories to add to the misery being inflicted on people.

“As MP for Brighton Pavilion, my job is to be on the side of my constituents and stand up for them.

“Part of that means challenging local politicians of every colour to come clean and put forward constructive solutions for dealing with the terrible situation we’re in.”

But Coun Morgan said it was time for the MP to come clean about her feelings towards the council’s Green Party leader, who is facing a second attempt to oust him in as many years.

In a statement Coun Morgan said: “It is time Caroline Lucas said where she stands on howthis council is being run.

“Jason Kitcat has lost a vote of no confidence and now seems set to face yet another coup attempt from within the Green group.

“Does she think it is a responsible way for her party to run the city she represents?

Whose side is she on? What is her involvement in this latest plot?”

A spokes-man for the MP said she supported the council tax referendum but would not confirm if she would give her support to Coun Kitcat as leader of Brighton and Hove’s Green Party.

Why is it when dealing with Lucas that the glorious old English word OBFUSCATION always comes to mind?

What is becoming clearer by the day however is that the secret of getting rid of this dreadful Green Party council is her removal from office.

She is just as responsisible for the terrible damage that has been done to our city. She must be voted out. Roll on 2015.

Caroline seems to spend more time engaged in campaigns which punish the poor.
She campaigns against fracking which could provide cheap fuel and now she wants to hit the poor which will enable her colleagues to fritter money away on their middle class mates.
Please go and live in Oxfordshire and take Kitkat and these other Dulwich dreamers with you.

She cannot comment one way or the other because if she does she upsets one faction or the other. She will keep her head down hoping it blows over because she knows that as an MP she is a goner come next May and at the same time the Green council will go the same way. All off to political oblivion. However in the meantime they have set about destroying this city.

Warren Morgan is a slimy piece of work. First he tells the Greens to stop in-fighting, next minute he's trying to stir the pot and demanding they draw their lines in the sand. God knows how the council will be run if he becomes leader.

How is "standing up for constituents" served by extracting more money from them. Especially if it is to fund a council which in its own reports is inefficient. Ms Lucas needs to do some basic economics - we can't keep spending above our income level. All that leads to is more and more debt and higher interest repayments.

I don't understand the greens call to "fight government cuts" - all they are doing is trying to get more money from people. That's not fighting government cuts, at best it's putting a sticking plaster on them and tacitly supporting them by raising income elsewhere. The greens, or any party in Brighton, should look to other councils and see how they are delivering. Spending all this time and energy complaining is counterproductive, just accept the cuts and work out how best to make them work in Brighton and Hove. Do the best with what you've got.

No hatred for Labour here. I left them because they forgot their roots and lost their values and became more and more like the Tory party.

With the Green Party I see a really bright future and real change for us all. All this talk about mutiny is just silly as Jason has the full support of everyone in the party and, despite the Argis moanerati, most of the residents of Brighton.

What a shame the Greens are a bunch of middle class, privately educated, misogynists who constantly side with the Tories on social media. I really don't know why they don't just cement the love-in and join the Conservatives. As for hate, one of their ranks openly stalked a Labour by-election candidate with absolutely no attempt by the local Party to stop it. Worse still, the one Green that did speak out about it left before facing a hearing for bringing the Party into disrepute.

Perhaps the slogan should be "The future's bright - the future's green". Or maybe not!

But support of most of the residents of Brighton. Really?

As you're so confident, guess that you'd give good odds on greens winning the council tax referendum or gaining more green seats in 2015. Care to place a bet?

Absolutely beggars belief

Hardly surprising that we find ourselves in a position where the Tory"s are sorting out the desperate legacy of the labour idiots, yet Lucas and the other moronic marxist greens still seem unable to see the light

However a couple of years on and they can no longer get away with the lies and the spin following a period of embarrassing under delivery

Then of course we have HJarrs and his suite of alternate posting names that serves to remind us why the greens will never receive any support in the future

Laughable wasters

And your postings are Labour filled hatred HJarrs.
We know you left the Labour Party in a huff but let it go HJarrs, let it go. Breathe and relax.

Is this the latest lame attempt to troll me off the Argus "Hjarrs."? Clearly my posts hit home so much you resort to identity theft.

I have asked the Argus moderator to reject the "HJarrs ." Username as this is a clear attempt to do nothing other than to misrepresent my point of view and nothing to do with debating issues. I await to see whether anything will be done about it.
Have you asked for all the associated names that you use to be rejected as well?

It would be great if you could as to be frank we are all fed up of the lies and spin

Many thanks
An interesting story in the Argus today about dogs fouling the pavement. This raises a serious question for Argus readers: What is the difference between the half-baked, rancid ponce who calls himself Somethingsarejustwro

ng and a dog turd? Now a lot of people will say a dog turd smells more pleasant and is less offensive to one's spirit and senses. Very true. Despite this, I still think that in essence they are the same. Dog turd = putrid filth = Somethingsarejustwro

ng. QED.
How nice to welcome Peter File to the thread. Perhaps the choir boys and girls have gone home for the evening and Peters fingers are now all over his key board instead!

Let's hope the authorities continue their good work and prosecute all those church types who abused so many

Peter I assume you will still be able to abuse vulnerable people when you are in the inside, not all bad eh?

'Don't you know who I am?' said our Caz to the old bill in the van after her fracking demo tantrum. Well I do, you are a silly little student who never grew up. Never forget the day you heard you was now an elected MP. There you were, walking down Queens Rd with two little followers, carrying your green balloons without a care in the world. I should have been thinking 'good luck Caroline' but all I thought was 'oh dearie me, this town is ****.......'

A nursery rhyme for our times :-

From travellers to the green pound
Her wisdom does truly astound
But when her Green councillors brats
Fight like a sack full of rats
Ma Lucas doesn’t utter a sound !

HJ secretly thinks the same, yet publicly (and some might say, largely down to consultancy arrangements) always supports the cause, regardless of the compromise.

HJ has confused me to the point where I was a Green, but don't understand why Greens would allow the low levels of recycling and absolute waste of resources to create non Green outcomes. I also don't get why the working class families of Brighton are being subjected to the inconvenience and costs associated with the Greens pursuing their Marxist ideology.

I don't think I want to be a Green anymore
