New climbing wall unveiled at Brighton's Withdean Sports Complex
A new climbing wall has been unveiled at a sports centre in Brighton.
Brighton Mayor Denise Cobb officially opened the new 13 metre high climbing wall at the Withdean Sports Complex on Saturday.
The new £250,000 facility was funded by High Sports, the UK’s leading indoor climbing provider, with support from Freedom Leisure and Brighton and Hove City Council.
Centre manager Ross Philipson said: “We’re delighted to have such a fantastic facility at Withdean Sports Complex.”
“The climbing wall will provide another way for people to get active and its fun that the whole family can enjoy.”
Yesterday visitors were treated to free 30 minute taster sessions to try out the wall for themselves.
Councillor Geoffrey Bowden, said: “The new climbing wall will prove to be yet another hugely popular attraction at Withdean Sports Complex and complements the new running track and the extension of the health and fitness facilities opened last year.
“The Withdean Sports Complex is certainly delivering on the Olympic legacy.”
The wall will be open seven days a week and will offer sessions for adults and children over the age of four.
