NHS cuts protest

First published in News

NHS workers staged a demonstration in protest against cuts in pay outside Churchill Square in Brighton.

The GMB has criticised Brighton and Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust’s decision to reduce the amount of money it pays to its team of nursing bank staff.

The move, which could save up to £1.5 million a year, will affect hundreds of workers.

The GMB said cutting the salaries of workers towards the bottom end of the pay scale will increase the “massive inequality” between the highest and lowest paid workers at the trust.

Good for them- it's disgusting how hard they have to work to earn such a small wage. The fact that many could be better off on benefits says it all- they are the backbone of the NHS & should be treated much better and paid for the hard work they put in to a challenging job.

Instead of hitting the poorer paid, the NHS needs to think if it needs the number of managers that it employs. Too top heavy IMO. Too many people walking around with clipboards, all doing the same task.
