terrace cred. says...

950 years? a touch arbitrary an anniversary, is it not?
though i suppose suppose esteemed councillor might well not be around in 50 yrs time and wants to make a mark.
but, if not a shot in the foot
(or, indeed, one in the eye!)
trying to get a repeat shot is asking for too much
and misses the target.
for, the 50th anniversary was thusly celebrated.
those of us of, um, a certain age, will have avidly collected the strip of postage stamps - 6 fourpenny ones and a couple of others
a 6d and a 1/3
(bloomin' expensive at the time - the old gpo knew how to extract philatelist coinage!).
maybe I should dig out my first day cover and send it to him...
nope, I'm not doing that!
just looked online - apparently selling for 30 quid...
