The A23 has reopened at Handcross after a car fire.
The northbound carriageway was closed at the B2110.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue was called to the scene shortly after 4pm.
The accidential fire was put out by 4.30pm, however Sussex Police closed the carriageway until around 4.20pm.
There is now slow moving traffic in the area, which is already suffering delays from roadworks.
The congestion stretches back to the A272 Cowfold Road (Bolney Cross).
