The mayor of Brighton and Hove opened West Blatchington Windmill on Sunday for its 35th season.
Friends of West Blatchington Windmill were at the official opening.
The group of volunteers work to preserve the Grade II listed building which dates from 1820 and still has all its original mill workings.
Mayor Denise Cobb was given a tour of historical and agricultural exhibits, tried out a stone grinder and bought a wholemeal cookbook from the gift shop.
Cllr Cobb said: “It’s a brilliant working windmill and something you can’t afford not to see.
“It’s run by an enthusiastic team of volunteers and it would be nice to see it attract more people.”
The windmill will be open on Sundays and bank holidays from 2.30pm to 5pm until September. Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for children.
Tours are on throughout the afternoon and there is disab-led access to the ground floor.
