Thieves have pinched electronic equipment and a suitcase from a family home.

The burglary took place at a home in North Street, Winchelsea, Rye, between 6pm and midnight on Thursday.

The family returned home to find the patio door locks broken and a small window open.

A suitcase had been stolen along with a Sony CR215 Vaio Laptop, a HP Series 5 laptop, a Samsung hard-drive and a Microsoft tablet.

Sussex Police launched Operation Magpie to tackle burglary across the county.

Any witness or anyone with information is asked to call 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 21 of 16/5. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
