A SUPERMARKET chain is looking to recruit eight workers in Sussex as part of a nationwide apprentice drive.
Discount retailer Aldi is looking to recruit around 500 apprentices in 2014 for its stores throughout the UK.
Opportunities in Sussex include two vacancies each at the German retailer’s stores in Carlton Terrace and London Road in Brighton, Brooks Road in Lewes and London Road in East Grinstead.
The three-year scheme offers store assistant and store management training with a salary of £5.15 per hour rising to £7.41 per hour.
By the end of the scheme, the most successful apprentices will have the opportunity to progress to the position of assistant store manager with a starting salary of £23,700.
The apprenticeship announcement has been praised by skills and enterprise minister Matthew Hancock.
