THE maternity ward at Royal Sussex County Hospital has been chosen as the winning charity in Asda’s green token scheme.
For the past few weeks customers at the Hollingbury store have been casting their votes in the supermarket for the charity they think is most deserving of a donation.
Staff have been giving out green tokens at the checkout for customers to place in a clear box in favour of their chosen charity.
And on Thursday, May 15, a representative from the hospital’s maternity ward was on hand to officially accept a cheque for £200 after shoppers decided it should receive the money.
