A ROD Stewart fan has been conned out of £225 for tickets to his Amex gig by an apparent scam website.

Patricia Heather, 68, said she bought the tickets to Stewart’s concert at the American Express Community Stadium from a website called Smart Cloud months ago but they never arrived.

Mrs Heather, of Pulborough, said: “We bought the tickets from a company called Smart Cloud and the money was taken from our account.

“I can see on the Visa statement a payment to Smart Events for £225, but I’ve never had the tickets.

“I tried to go back on the site yesterday and it is no longer there. “We were really excited to go and I’m sure the tickets we thought we bought are still on sale.

“After we paid for the tickets we had an email saying we had purchased our tickets, then they sent us a free t-shirt three weeks ago.

“We thought the tickets would be coming in the post but they never arrived.”

Mrs Heather reported her case to Action Fraud – part of the City of London Police. Mrs Heather’s case has now been passed to Trading Standards.

Smart Cloud has been accused of shattering the dreams of hundreds of One Direction fans who bought tickets to their gigs at Wembley Stadium at the weekend.

On their Facebook page they claim to be “a prestigious independent ticket broker, specialising in obtaining tickets for most rock and pop concerts in the UK.”

But dozens of unhappy customers have left comments calling them “absolutely disgusting”.

A spokesman for Action Fraud said this kind of scam was “unfortunately very common”.
