A GROUP of budding artists have been busy working on an annual exhibition to wow a TV personality.

More than 100 Bede’s pupils contributed to the Annual Schools Exhibition at the Towner Gallery which opened in Eastbourne over Easter and the results impressed BBC Question Time’s David Dimbleby.

The inspiration for the show was the South Downs landscape, and all the work was based on wildlife from the area.

Bede’s children worked with lino cut prints and direct printing to produce a large scale collaborative canvas for display.

Lena Yiang-Bennett, Charlie Jenden, Leila Endean and Tom Lloyd represented years three and four and were privileged to meet the well-known television broadcaster, and chairman of the Towner, Mr Dimbleby at the exhibition opening.

Carol Parris, the school’s head of art and design, said: “Lena spoke confidently to Mr Dimbleby about the work, which he was very interested in, as his son had attended Bede’s Prep.

“The children were also interviewed by representatives of the South Downs National Park agency for an archive project, and spoke very eloquently, answering questions and commenting on the exhibition.”
