ST GEORGE'S flag clad fans packed out the pubs as they rung in England's first appearance in this years world cup.

Fans donned their England flag bowler hats and football strips as they flocked to their locals to watch the late night game live from Brazil.

The King and Queen in Brighton was filled to the brim with excited fans and they watched as on England suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Italy. 

The next England match will be at 8pm on Thursday against Uruguay.
