A gunman made his way into a pub kitchen and demanded money from a safe.
The man entered the kitchen of The Ship pub in Ship Street, East Grinstead, at about 1.25am on Saturday.
He threatened the manager with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money from the safe. The man ran off following a scuffle.
Police arrested a man at an address in the town on Saturday afternoon, where a BB handgun was recovered.
Ruhel Miah, 30, of The Courtyard, East Grinstead, is due to appear in custody at Crawley Magistrates Court on Monday June 30 charged with attempted robbery and with possessing an imitation firearm.
