A teenager punched a would-be robber in the face after being jumped on his way to school.

The 15-year-old was attacked as he walked through an alleyway that leads from Renoir Mews to Chichester Road in Bognor shortly after 7.30am on Friday.

The suspect demanded the boy hand over his mobile phone and when he refused, grabbed him and pushed him up against a wall.

A struggle ensued before the victim punched his assailant in the face, causing him to run off. He was seen to run up Renoir Mews and turn into Whiteways.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 6'0", of proportionate build, aged in his 30s or 40s, with short messy dark hair and blue eyes.

He was wearing a long-sleeved white top underneath a black body warmer, black jogging bottoms, black gloves and black Nike trainers. He spoke with an Eastern European accent.
