Police are hunting this man in relation to a burglary in which jewellery and precious stones were stolen.

At around 12.25pm on July 5 an intruder entered a home in River Lane, Alfriston.

He took a large quantity of jewellery, precious stones, a wallet, two wooden boxes, an oval silver and a blue velvet trinket box.

A man was seen running over Plonk Bridge, or White Bridge as it is also known, away from the home and towards Lullington Road after the burglary.

He was in his early 20s, 5' 10" and muscular with short light mousey hair. He was clean shaven and wearing a close fitting dark jacket with blue jeans.

It is believed he was hiding the stolen items under his jacket which would have made it look bulky.

Detective Constable Richie Davidson said: "We need to speak to this man urgently and I am hoping someone will recognise him from the efit and description.

"The victim was targeted by an opportunist burglar who took advantage of the good weather to go in through an open back door and steal a large amount of jewellery.

"If you recognise the man in the efit or saw someone running between River Lane and Lullington Road please contact us.

“Also, if you have seen people acting suspiciously in Alfriston before or since the burglary, please get in touch."
