The experiences of the country's first Green MP during her historic first term in Parliament will be revealed in a new book.

Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas has signed a deal for her first sole authored book titled No Honourable Friends: Parliament and the Fight for Change.

The book will reflect on the experiences of the Green MP during her time in Parliament as well a look at the failings of the parliamentary system and the changes she feels desperately need to be brought about.

Readers are being advised to expect some humour on the arcane aspects of Parliament and its idiosyncrasies as well as “scathing analysis of the failure of the parliamentary system” in a call for greater accessibility and transparency.

The book will be published in the run up to the election in May next year. Dr Lucas MP said that the book was not one she had just sat down and written but was based upon several years of reflections and experiences and on notes and observations that had been written up along the way.

She added: “It’s an absolute privilege to serve my constituents as their Member of Parliament but Parliament itself is almost comically stuck in the dark ages and in desperate need of reform.”

The book will be published by London-based Portobello Books, who also include journalist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown among their stable of authors.
