The Royal Marines band performed at the Blind Veterans UK centre to celebrate the summer.
The band played at the centre in Greenways, Ovingdean, near Brighton, for blind veterans who are supported by the charity as well as guests and families.
The band opened with a rousing rendition of God Save The Queen before leading into pop hits such as Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen and the Overture from West Side Story. Lesley Garven, of the charity’s Brighton Centre, said: “The Royal Marines Band are a regular fixture and we’ve been lucky enough to have them play for the last few years.
“They provide a stirring concert and a fantastic way for our blind veterans to celebrate summer.”
The band was also joined by the Corps of Drums and summery treats were served up, including strawberries, scones and Pimm’s.
During the concert, Barry Porter, interim chief executive of Blind Veterans UK, confirmed the charity’s support to armed forces veterans by signing the Government’s Armed Forces Corporate Covenant.
