Sussex Police officers used a taser 164 times in 2013, a new report reveals.

That amounted to about six uses per 100 officers, according to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) report.

The IPCC states that police forces must analyse taser use to make sure it is being used appropriately.

The above stats are incomplete and therefore misleading. Taser 'use' covers deployment but not does cover 'activated against a suspect'. The difference between the two gives an indication of efficacy as a deterrent which I would have thought to be very important.
