A group of young performers are in the swing of things as they make the final adjustments to their production.

Students from Downs Junior School in Brighton have teamed up with their African counterparts to produce a musical on slavery and freedom.

Thirty children from Braebrun School in Nairobi, Kenya, will join 70 youngsters from Downs Junior School at the Rose Theatre in Kingston.

The world premiere of the show named Albatross – Wings Of Freedom will be part of the International Youth Arts Festival.

Set in the late 1880s in Zanzibar, East Africa, this musical tells the story of the epic struggle to eradicate the black market slave trade, being perpetrated along the East coast of Africa.
