A family car crossed two lanes of oncoming traffic before smashing into a seafront shelter, injuring two pedestrians.
The Renault Scenic was travelling eastbound on Marine Parade in Brighton when it left the road and ended up on the promenade.
The incident happened near the junction to Lower Rock Gardens and after hitting the shelter, the car travelled 40 to 50 yards before coming to a halt against the railings.
A male pedestrian had a minor injury, while a woman sitting at the shelter suffered a serious leg injury. The driver also suffered a minor injury.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Marine Parade at 12.01pm.
