AN open forum aimed at making a town more dementia friendly is being held.

The event is being organised by the Alzheimer's Society, and will be at Shoreham library in St Mary’s Road from 2pm to 4pm today.

The aim is to identify what priorities need to be taken to help care and support people living with dementia in the area.

The charity is hoping to set up a dementia action alliance, where members are recruited to help find ways to improve services.

Project co-ordinator Jacquie Pond said: “It is not just about the services and support available to those with dementia but also increasing understanding of what people with dementia and their carers need.

“It is also a chance for businesses, shops, emergency services and doctors – to name a few – to help make their services more dementia friendly.”
