A woman is concerned she may have been the victim of identity theft after two full bags of rubbish were taken from her wheelie bin.

The Peachaven resident has reported that two full bags of rubbish were taken from the Council landfill wheelie bin outside her house in Seaview Avenue overnight between Thursday July 24 and Friday July 25.

She was concerned that they might have been targeted for identity theft, but PC Anna Batchelor said: "This is an isolated incident and although the motive for the theft is not clear, there is no evidence to suggest that they were stolen for identity theft purposes.

"However we would still like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area that night. If you can help please contact us via 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 0451 of 20/7.

"This is also a useful reminder to people to take normal crime prevention steps to look after their property, making sure that any paperwork or other material with personal data on is throroughly torn up or if possible shredded before disposal."
