First published in News

A POLICE officer has denied stealing from and assaulting her former partner – also a police officer.

Serving Metropolitan Police officer Andrea Kinnear pleaded not guilty to both charges at Brighton Magistrates’ Court.

The 38-year-old is accused of stealing an iPhone belonging to Janine Cunningham, on April 28, and assaulting her on April 14.

Both alleged offences are said to have taken place in Wyndham Street, Brighton, where the pair lived.

She is due to stand trial on the assault charge at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on October 31. She chose to be tried in front of a jury on the theft charge, and is due to appear for a hearing at Lewes Crown Court on August 28. Kinnear, currently of Woodside Cottages, Woodmancote, Emsworth, is on bail.
