The Earl of Grantham was seeing double yesterday when he attended the opening of his waxwork at Madame Tussauds.

Actor Hugh Bonneville, who lives in West Sussex, appeared unnerved at the lifelike model of himself.

He joins the likes of Princess Diana, Ghandi and Nelson Mandela who have all featured in wax at the London attraction.

Mr Bonneville, 50, is best known for his role as the Earl of Grantham in the Downton Abbey.

Starting out acting in 1990, he has appeared in numerous TV and film shows including Twenty Twelve, The Vicar of Dibley and Notting Hill.
