A SPECIALIST day unit has been set up to help people with eye problems.
The ophthalmic unit at Bexhill Hospital is run by East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and will treat a wide range of conditions including cataracts, glaucoma and eyelid lesions.
Some treatments needing a general anaesthetic will be done at the unit but complex procedures will continue to be performed at the Conquest Hospital in St Leonards.
The unit will be open five days a week and staff will be aiming to increase the number of patients and reduce waiting times.
