Volunteer lifeboat crews have been kept busy over the past couple of days with a number of callouts.
On Wednesday August 13 the lifeboat was launched to a person over the cliffs near Birling Gap and at 1am on Thursday August Newhaven lifeboat crew were paged by Solent Coastguards after a woman was spotted in the River Ouse near Newhaven Swing Bridge.
Newhaven lifeboat was ready to leave the side with two crew in dry suits when the woman was reported safely out of the water, so the crew were stood down.
On Friday, Newhaven lifeboat was launched at 11:30am to recover a person from the base of the cliffs at Belle Tout.
The deceased was passed into the care of HM Coastguards at 2pm.
And on Saturday they launched again at 2:55pm to a 28ft motor cruiser with engine problems.
The vessel was quickly located and a two was established. The casualty vessel was then safely towed into Newhaven harbour.
Newhaven lifeboat Coxswain Paul Legendre said: “The station has had a busy few days. But our volunteer crew are prepared and ready to respond to any emergencies 24 hours a day seven days a week during this important holiday period.”
