A BARN has been destroyed by fire.

Fire-fighters were called to the blaze in Farthing Lane, Ashburnham, shortly before 11pm last night, and are still at the scene.

The roughly 20-metre by 50-metre structure contained farm machinery and hay bales.

A spokesman for East Sussex and Surrey Fire and Rescue said no-one had been injured.

Crews attended from Herstmonceux, Battle, Uckfield, Burwash, Bexhill, Heathfield and Eastbourne.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
