An accident and oil spill closed the A259 near Pevensey earlier today but the road is now open.

The road was closed with queuing traffic in both directions between Pevensey roundabout in Pevensey and the B2182 Cooden Sea Road junction in Little Common.

A diversion was in operation.

The accident involved two motorbikes, a car and a van near the Lamb Inn at about 11am.

The two motorcyclists were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital where they remain in a serious but not life-threatening condition.
