A GROUP of retired freight workers from Sussex have helped to raise hundreds of pounds for an air ambulance charity.
The Exel Retired Staff Association has more than 60 members in places from Eastbourne to Rustington.
The club meets once a month for coach trips and for an annual dinner at the Royal Albion Hotel in Brighton.
Last year the group held a number of raffles and quizzes and raised £400 for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.
The money was match-funded by parent organisation the DHL UK Foundation.
Association chairwoman Dorothy Allwright, from Worthing, said: “It is an essential service especially on the seaside where access can be a problem and the helicopters need to get there quickly.
“We just cannot do without it that is why our members decided to support the charity which relies almost entirely on public support.”
