A fairy dressmaker is hoping for a magical boost to her company as she turns to the red boxes of TV quiz show Deal Or No Deal.

Beth Hall will appear on the popular Noel Edmonds-fronted show on Thursday as she attempts to win a minimum of £5,000.

The show’s host was so impressed by Ms Hall’s company, he even agreed to don one of her fairy creations live on air.

The 51-year-old dressmaker has been running her own business for the past 15 years and, until recently, ran a stall at the West Pier Market.

In July, she moved to unit 22 at the Brighton Open Market and turned to the TV show to boost her company by paying off her credit card debt, covering the rent and buying a starter pack of fabric.

She said: “I was just watching the show and thought that would really work for me if I could just get on the show. £5,000 would really help me out.”

Ms Hall is not allowed to disclose how she fared on the show but said the experience was “nerve-wracking”.

She said: “I couldn’t believe I got on the show. It was all a bit of a shock.

“Lots of people have special reasons to be on the show, some want to start a business and some people want to go forward in their life without having debts.

“The filming is for two weeks so you are with other contestants 24/7 throughout the week and really make friends.

“Everybody gets a chance so there’s no competition. You just want people to succeed and you are rooting for them.”

Ms Hall said host Noel looked “fantastic” in her dress and she will be displaying the dress he wore on a dummy outside her shop.

The episode of Deal Or No Deal in which Ms Hall takes her red box to the centre of the studio will be screened at 4pm on Channel 4 on Thursday.
