YOUNG engineers have been rewarded for creating new transport designs to get from Brighton to Rottingdean, inspired by Magnus Volk.
They were presented with certificates by BBC newsreader Nicholas Owen and Janita Bagshawe, director of Royal Pavilion and Museums, on Friday before their designs went on display at Brighton Museum at the weekend.
They also visited Volk’s Electric Railway, built by pioneering British electrical engineer Magnus Volk, who lived from 1851 to 1937.
Peter Williams, of the Volk’s Electric Railway Association, said: “We are delighted to support this exciting project about a man who was a true pioneer of all things electrical, including his famous railway.
“He left us a legacy that children today can still enjoy.”
