AN INTRICATE icing scene of Santa on his sleigh caught the eye of a star judge in a charity baking competition.

The festive scene won the Cake Off competition at the Thomas Kemp pub, St George’s Road, Brighton on Saturday.

The creation, submitted by Beata Khoo, of My Sweet Passion Cakes, appeared alongside rose embellished cupcakes, a piñata cake exploding with sweets and a sponge in the shape of a traditional African hut.

They were tested by Brighton-based Great British Bake Off Star Kate Henry to raise money for Team Kenya.

The charity supports young people in rural parts of the country through their education.

Volunteer Victoria Wilson, whose mother founded the charity, said: “At least ten bakers took part and we raised £300.”

Luxury food prizes were also won in a raffle. The charity has a target of £500 to reach in order to fund education for a Kenyan girl.
