THE Herald Scottish Rugby Awards, which were loudly praised by

everyone connected with the sport when marking the end of last season,

will be presented this year at a special dinner in The Sheraton Grand

Hotel, Edinburgh, on May 6.

Once again The Herald Player of the Year will be chosen by the public,

who can cast their vote through the newspaper. Details will be announced

later in the season.

The McEwan's Team of the Year and The Royal Bank of Scotland Most

Promising Young Player of the Year will be chosen by a panel of rugby

writers and former international players with nominations put forward by

clubs or individuals.

The occasion will be chaired by Brian Meek and the speakers will

include Jock Steven, president of the SRU, Gavin Hastings, and Ian Lang,

the Secretary of State for Scotland.
