RETIRED basketball player Michael Jordan is reported to be considering

a major league baseball career with the Chicago White Sox.

According to a US newspaper, Jordan has been practising hitting

against pitching machines. The newspaper quoted Jordan as saying he

would only consider playing professional baseball if he could begin at

the major league level.

''I'm not committed to anything but if I'm not adequate to play in the

majors, then I'd say 'Thanks for a good time', '' Jordan, 30, is quoted

as saying.

The Bulls and White Sox are owned by Jerry Reinsdorf, who has said

that Jordan would be given a chance to do whatever he likes.
