NANCY Kerrigan can compete in the Winter Olympics at Lillehammer in

Norway next month. The former US figure skating champion was attacked

with a metal bar in Detroit on Thursday after practising for the

national championships. Her right knee was injured and she had to

withdraw from the event, which was a trial for the Olympic team.

Kerrigan, bronze medallist at the 1992 Albertville Games, had been

expected to retain her US title, but US figure skating officials say

they have found a ruling that would enable them to select Kerrigan for

the Olympics.

The championship was won by Tonya Harding.
