A YOUNG boy was attacked in a park and thrown into a shopping trolley by a gang.

The group of boys pounced on the 11-year-old boy as he walked home. He was abused and shoved to the ground in St John’s Park, Burgess Hill, before dumping him in a shopping trolley and pushing him along before tipping him out.

He was left very upset and with cuts and bruises after the attack sometime between 5pm and 7pm on Thursday, January 21.

PC Andrew Mackay said: "This was an unprovoked, cowardly assault on an 11-year old by a group including some older boys. We have interviewed three suspects, aged 15, 15 and 14, under caution on suspicion of assault, and enquiries are continuing to establish the facts surrounding this unpleasant incident".
