A GLIDER has crash landed in a field.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the incident in Saddlescombe Road, Poynings, at around 2.30pm.
Two fire engines, a team in a 4x4 and a rescue crew were sent to the scene.
When the first crew arrived nine minutes later they discovered the glider was empty and there was no sign of the pilot.
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue spokesman said that Sussex Police were alerted and a search for the pilot began.
However it is now believed the pilot made their own way to hospital after the hard landing.
The glider has been left in the hands of a local club.
