A UNIVERSITY has dropped one place in an influential guide but remains one of the top 20 in the country.

The University of Sussex dropped to 19 in the Complete University Guide, which was issued this week.

The university scored particularly highly in graduate prospects – the Falmer-based institute ranked sixth in the UK.

The University of Brighton rose one place to 89th while the University of Chichester fell six places to 86th.

Oxford and Cambridge topped the guide for another year while St Andrews rose two places to third.

Sussex risked falling out of the top 40 in 2015 but has since bounced back to be a consistent top 20 university while Brighton was as high as 70 in the ranking in 2013 but had fallen over recent years until this year’s rise.
