FOODIES can get a taste of everything from French crepes to Chinese stir fries at a Continental Street Market.

The market has been organised by Worthing Rotary Club and Worthing Council and is on the promenade near the Lido.

It is part of the festivities for the annual Rotary Carnival.

The market opened on Tuesday and will continue through to Bank Holiday Monday.

The traders open their stalls at 10am daily and close at 7pm.

Visitors to the promenade will be able to enjoy a range of food and drink including Caribbean beverages, French crepes, Chinese stir fries and more.

There are also craft stalls and attractions for children such as a bouncy castle.

For those looking for more substantial purchases, there is also the likes of wooden garden furniture on offer.

For those who like a pint but don’t want to miss the summer sunshine, one of the market stalls is a pub with a full range of beer and spirits.

Among the drinks on offer include many brewed in and around Sussex.

The market is managed by R & R events.

Its manager John McInnes said: “We have been well received in Worthing.

“People like to come down for the day.

“Some of our other markets include Perth, Cardiff and Swansea.”

R & R has been organising market events for 15 years throughout the UK.

Barry Knowles, a visitor from Westerham, Kent, said: “I’m enjoying my lunch and my day;.

“It is really great and there is a fantastic selection of things to choose from.”

The annual Rotary Carnival has been running since 1921 and will be held this year on August 27 and 28.

The Carnival procession will be on the August 28, leaving Grand Avenue at 12:30pm and arriving at Steyne Gardens at 1:30pm.

The carnival will include clowns, trapeze artists and hoola-hooping.

There will also be face-painting and live music, and at 2:30pm on August 28 the Dogs Trust is hosting a dog show.

Worthing also holds regular Farmers’ markets and speciality continental markets, including its famous French markets.

They are held throughout the year in South Street Square and Montague Place.

There is also a marker held in the High Street every Wednesday.

As well as fresh fruits and vegetables there are stalls selling clothes, flowers, crafts and much more.
