Enjoy your Christmas, Albion fans - because tomorrow's Boxing Day!

Albion have a great recent record at The Valley in recent seasons.

And they might need a good omen or two if they are to enjoy some overdue Boxing Day cheer.

December 26 has been a savage comedown from the Christmas festivities for several years now.

Their best 'result' in recent years was arguably a late call-off at frosty Dagenham in 2010.

That set up the re-arranged fixture three months later in which Gus Poyet's champions elect completed their 24-point March and Glenn Murray scored his 20th goal of the season.

Albion did not play on December 26 last year and they hardly got out of second gear two years ago in a 3-0 defeat at Reading.

Nicky Forster put them in front at home to Dean Hammond’s Colchester in 2008 and it looked good until Adam Hinshelwood's 30-yard own goal sent the visitors to a 2-1 win.

That pretty much summed up the way things were going for Micky Adams' men that year. By contrast, Albion were in good form under Dean Wilkins going into Boxing Day 2007, only to have their season thrown off course.

That was the day goalshy Millwall striker Gary Alexander suddenly scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 home victory.

Bas Savage said farewell to Albion after the game by throwing his shirt to the fans and George O'Callaghan effectively did likewise with his post-match outburst against chairman Dick Knight.

By those standards the 0-0 home draw with Leyton Orient in 2009 was a great result but it did not feel like it, especially when Andrew Crofts was sent off.

The best thing that happened that day was a late booking for Liam Dickinson. His subsequent suspension let Murray back into the team – and he scored four at Wycombe in the next match.

Nathan Jones helped Yeovil win 3-1 at Withdean on Boxing Day 2006.

So you have go to back to 2005 for that last Boxing Day win, when QPR were beaten 1-0 in the Championship at Withdean.

But even that was tarnished - by a broken leg and substantial ankle damage for Charlie Oatway which eventually ended his professional career.

So, while not wanting to spoil the festive mood, the track record on December 26 is not great.

But don't worry. There's plenty of Christmas Day left to enjoy yet!

Mr. Owen, have you ay idea of how many years it has taken to forget our Boxing Day woes, thanks for the reminder.

Right now we have on a very good vein of away form, Boxing day hocus pocus or not, Charlton will be wishing that they were not playing us tomorrow, not with the away results we have been getting recently. 0-2, maybe 1-3.

0-2 to the Albion and Ince to get on the score sheet, Blackpool could also be an away win with big Rohan upsetting the relatives! Come the bournmouth match we will be into the playoff spots and looking for an auto spot. UTA

We should be proud of our depleted team's achievements so far this season. I cannot remember such an extensive casualty list.
Best wishes for a full recovery for CMS, Hoskins, Orlandi, Greer, Lua lua and all the others who have taken enforced breaks. May rehabilitation be soon and permanent!
Happy Christmas Evening to all .... and here's wishing for six points from Charlton and Bournemouth!

Tug your Christmas day is nearly done, for me, well the turkey is still cooking. I hope that you have had a fantastic day and that you are somewhere near sober, actually scratch that, I hope you are downing a few and perhaps thinking, if only for a minute or two, about us that are not in the UK.
God bless friend.

Hi Vegas ,thanks for the kind words ,and as you said yesterday ,right back at ya mate . I know this will be hard to believe ,but i only had a couple of pints today ,we went to my eldest daughters for Christmas dinner ,and saw the Grand children so i was on my best behaviour ,but tomorrow i will sink a few watching the football .

Funnily enough i did give a thought to yourself and our other ex-pats ,and you can bet i`ll raise a glass to your good health at K.O. time ,i hope your day goes smoothly and you and yours have a terrific time ,as you aptly say ,God bless friend.
