Final: Blackburn 3 Albion 3

9:32pm

But Albion responded straight away as STEPHENS headed in a Lingard cross.

9:29pm

Rovers were gifted a route back into the lead when Upson impeded Rhodes as a cross came in from the Rovers right.

The referee pointed to the spot and RHODES calmly sent Kuszczak the wrong way.

9:22pm

Robinson kept his side in front with a fine save low to his left from March's shot.

But Albion levelled when GREER touched home a LuaLua corner at the near post.

9:19pm

Albion almost found a way back into the game. Lingard slid a lovely pass inside the full-back for March, who drilled the ball across goal - but Ulloa culd not get a touch at the far post.

Bruno booked a two-game ban when he slid in late to take Conway down tight to the touchline and halt a dangerous Rovers counter.

Albion sent on LuaLua for Rodriguez

9:15pm

Greer decided to take matters into his own hands. He sprayed a pass out to Ward on the left, made tracks into the box and was close to getting a touch to the resulting cross.

Lingard's neat pass helped Albion win a corner but Ulloa faied to make proper contact with his header.

As Rovers countered, March was booked for bringing down Dunn.

Rovers made two changes in quick succession. Taylor replaced Evans and then King went on for Dunn.

9:06pm

Ulloa won a free-kick 30 yards out but Andrews' attenmpt to work a clever pass rather than shoot was easily picked off and Rovers launched a counter attack.

That came to nothing as Bruno closed down Conway just enough to force a miscued cross.

But the next ball in from the Scot flicked off Bruno and looped crazily over Kuszczak - but off the bar and to safety.

Rovers' next two efforts owed nothing to luck. Kuszczak got right behind a superb Rhodes volley from outside the box and then produced a fine save low to his left from a well struck drive by Conway.

Albion sent on March for Forster-Caskey.

8:54pm

Rovers made the early running in the second half and Albion had to clear two long throws from Spurr.

The Seagulls were being pressed as they tried to play out of defence and could not get into the Rovers half.

Bruno, one booking from a two-game ban, was spoken to by ref Brown after a foul.

8:49pm

Stephens replaced Ince at half-time.

8:32pm

Rodriguez worked room for a cross from the left in added time but it was overhit as he looked to find Ulloa.

Half: Blackburn 2 Albion 1

8:29pm

Andrews was angry to be pulled up for a foul 25 yards out. His protests earned a rebuke from the ref and boos from home fans.

Conway went for goal with the free-kick which Kuszczak saved low at his right-hand post.

But a second Rovers goal was not long in coming.

Conway dropped deep, taking Bruno with him, and left-back Spurr charged forward outaside him with Ulloa back-tracking in pursuit.

Spurr got almost to the byline and crossed low.

It seemed the chance might have gone as the ball rolled across goal but CAIRNEY was following up to rifle home from beyond the far post.

8:24pm

Att: 12,332 (272 away)

8:21pm

Albion settled and enjoyed some possession. But Rodriguez was offside when he was denied at close range by Robinson.

The dangerous Rhodes, now on 21 league goals for the season, did not get enough on a header when he met Conway's cross from the left and the ball glanced harmlessly wide of the far post.

Then Upson did well to clear a cross behind for a corner from which Dunn volleyed well over as he fell.

8:14pm

It was a desperately untidy free-kick to concede and there were recriminations among the Albion players with Andrews seemingly unhappy with Kuszczak for the way he charged out of goal in the build-up.

Rovers' previously disgruntled fans were right behind their side now and Kuszczak had to come out to punch clear a cross.

8:10pm

Albion had made a very solid start - but they got themselves into a horrible mess midway through the half.

It ended with Ince having to dribble his way across his own goalmouth with Kuszczak charging out of goal too.

Andrews comitted a foul as he tried to intervene and the free-kick, fired in low by Cairney from the edge of the box, was tuched in by RHODES

8:03pm

Rhodes had his first hint of a chance when he turned in the area and had his shot blocked by Upson for a corner which Ulloa headed away.

But Albion struck first in the 17th minute when Lingard sent RODRIGUEZ away to the right of goal and his low, crisply struck shot beat Robinson at his near post.

7:56pm

Albion had the first shot on goal when patient build-up led to Ward to rolling the ball into the path of Andrews for a fierce 25-yarder which flew over the bar.

Then Andrews, starting well against his old club, got on the end of neat build-up down the right but his low cross after overlapping Bruno was well held by the diving Robinson ahead of Rodriguez.

It was a bright opening by the Seagulls.

7:48pm

Albion had an attacking throw-in inside 30 seconds, which Bruno hurled into the box but was cleared.

Bruno then cantered away down the right to win a corner which led to another - which was held by Robinson.

7:43pm

Last season Albion fans drove homee through blizzards after a midweek draw at Ewood Park.

Tonight we sit out in the Lancashire air with barely need for a jacket.

But will we get the drama to match that freezing night in Januaray 2013 - when David Lopez won and converted a penalty deep into added time to salvage a 1-1 draw?

And will a point even suffice for the Seagulls this time?

There are two changes to the XI which kicked off against Miidlesbrough on Saturday - and only one by choice.

I'm gessing that is rather fewer alterations than many of the disgruntled fans at the Amex on Saturday would have liked.

Of the two men who come in, Jake Forster-Caskey played more than half the game v Boro.

He replaces David Lopez while David Rodriguez is in for hamstrung Will Buckley.

The teams are out and kick-off time nears...

Bruno is non existent as a defender. Forster Caskey looks out of depth, and Kuzy really screwed up not helping Ince which led to the free kick on the edge of the box from which they scored. Second goal was all caused by Bruno being totally out of position.

We look much better in the final third tonight, apart from the totally invisible Rodriguez who took his goal well but has done absolutely nothing else.

We are the better side no doubt but defensively we are pretty woeful right now

Needs Lua Lua on in place of Rodriguez for sure. We can get back in this. with the right shape, as long as Bruno starts defending.

But re Brighton fans, it's almost, ALMOST as if it's easier to get to the Amex on a Saturday than Blackburn on a Tuesday night.

Yep, you're right. Very difficult to defend against, especially for the keeper.

As the season drifts in to a conclusion you do wonder where the club is going in terms of it's transfer and contract policy. Do we really want virtually a whole new squad next year which is what may happen.

Have become obsessed with FFP, no-one else seems to give a ****. One decent signing only this year, a catalogue of injuries that needs investigating.

Under achieving as a club.

We can shout about a valuable point, a great fightback, and that we scored 3 goals at last, but in all honesty we are a million miles away from being play off quality. We were woeful at the back, especially down Bruno's flank. Glad he'll be suspended now and give Caldy a shot. Even Kusczak was wobbly tonight.

Didn't fair much better in midfield, Forster Caskey was a lost lamb, Ince off the boil, Andrews, who was good for the first 15 mins and terrible thereafter, and we just kept opening the door of opportunity for B'burn with silly tackles/fouls from Bruno, Caskey, and Andrews.

Hard to name a MOM tonight, but I'd probably give it Lingard for endeavour and effort, with March and Lua Lua looked our biggest threat and they were only on for 15 mins. Ulloa was fairly quiet.

Blackburn we very ordinary, and this is a team we should beat easily if we a play off contender.

I know this is a little bit early, but I wonder what Oscars end of season report will be. Will it read something like.

Not clinical enough, to many missed chances in front of goal, midfield not creative enough, defence tied towards end of season.

Personally I think we could have done better, but with all the injuries we have had, and a small budget we have done well. Also with hand on heart who can really say we are ready for the step up .
