England and Sussex wicketkeeper Matt Prior has stood down from Test cricket for the rest of the summer due to injury.
Under-fire England captain Alastair Cook had jumped to Prior's defence after his side lost the second Test at Lord’sby 95 runs today.
Prior received criticism for a reckless shot as England collapsed from 173-4 shortly after lunch to 223 all out before tea.
Cook said: "Matt’s got a serious amount of talent, he’s been a fantastic player for England. He’s desperate to carry on playing and at the moment I think he’s the best wicketkeeper-batsman in the country."
