Geerts Jane Jane died peacefully at The Martlets Hospice on 5th April 2016. She was the much loved daughter of Joan, sister to Mike, wonderful aunt to Victoria, Sophie, Harry, Charlotte and a dear friend to many. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, 26th April at 1.15pm at The Downs Crematorium. Family flowers only but we would be grateful for donations to 'The Martlets Hospice' by donating c/o ARKA Original Funerals, 39-41 Surrey Street, Brighton. BN1 3PB. Tel. 01273 766620.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of our dear friend Jane. One of my fondest memories is when I was 25 and had finished backpacking in 2001, shortly after 9/11, she took me in for over a week until I could return to America. I had been traveling Europe for 6 months by myself and ended my tour in Brighton, England with Jane! Jane drove me around and we toured Brighton and some of the smaller towns nearby while I waited to get approval to come home (flew on an AA pass which had been eliminated for quite some time after 9/11). Jane brought me to her parents house and told her parents the only special request for food I had after all my travels was vegetables, as they were hard to come by during my travels :) They made me every vegetable you can imagine and it was wonderful! Jane kept me safe, fed, and made me laugh for days until I could return home. She was such a smart, tough woman and funny as heck and even though she was my parents good friend (the Groffman's), she was part of our family. She will be missed and I will always remember the kindness she showed me at that turbulent time.

Our condolences to Jane's mom and the entire Geerts family. We always considered Jane a part of our family. A wonderful and loving person. She'll be missed.
