THE A23 AND A27 TRUNK ROADS PATCHAM INTERCHANGE, NEAR BRIGHTON TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT LINK ROAD CLOSURES
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A23 and A27 Trunk Roads, in the Unitary Authority of the City of Brighton and Hove, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise the overnight closure of the following:
(a) the link road leading from the eastbound carriageway of the A27 to the northbound carriageway of the A23; and

(b) the road connecting the coast-bound carriageway of the A23 to the eastbound carriageway of the A27 spur road at Patcham Interchange (A27).

These measures would be in the interests of
road safety to enable contractors to undertake
cyclical maintenance works.
It is expected that the work would take place
for approximately two nights every two months
between 20:00 and 05:00 (maximum period)
for the link road described in (a) above and
approximately two nights every two months
between 22:00 and 05:00 for the link road
described in (b) above.
The Order would come into force on
21 January 2018 and have a maximum duration
of twelve months.
During the closures outlined above, traffic affected would be diverted via other junctions on the A23 and A27. The diversion routes would vary depending on the closure in place. The link road closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods.
